Sailing Workation on Turkey's Turquoise Coast

Turkey's Aegean and Mediterranean coasts are among the most mature stretches for yacht-based remote work. Göcek, Fethiye, and Marmaris offer protected anchorages for stable morning work blocks, reliable 5G in marinas, and Starlink on passage. Dense charter infrastructure means fewer surprises and more focus time.
Workation destination

Why Turkey is the most popular yacht workation destination

Turkey is the busiest destination on the Wild Workation calendar thanks to a long sailing season from April to October, 300+ days of sunshine on the Turquoise Coast, and strong 4G/5G coverage along the shore — enough for daily Zoom or Google Meet calls without dropouts.

Our routes leave from Marmaris, Göcek, and Fethiye, the gateway to sheltered bays, pine-forested islands, and ancient Lycian ruins. Typical weekly distances are short, so most days the yacht is anchored by 11:00 and you can work from a stable platform with shade, power, and cold drinks.

EU citizens enter Turkey visa-free for 90 days in any 180-day period; most other nationalities get a quick online e-visa. The Turkish lira keeps on-the-ground costs — meals ashore, taxis, excursions — noticeably lower than Greece or Croatia, which is why remote workers can easily extend their stay after the cruise.

Time zone is UTC+3, convenient for teams on CET or Moscow hours. Average sea temperature is 24–27 °C from June to September, and the prevailing winds are light and predictable — ideal for first-time sailors.

Why Turkey

Turkey's best sailing spots

From the Bodrum peninsula to the Lycian Coast, each anchorage tells a different story. Rich history, pine-scented bays, and the clearest water in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Göcek & the 12 Islands. A natural harbour ringed by forested islands with pristine bays. Perfect for morning focus sessions — calm water, zero boat traffic, reliable Starlink.
Bodrum Peninsula. The Aegean hub — Castle of St. Peter, white-cube architecture, and the liveliest anchorage marinas. Great for evening team dinners ashore.
Fethiye & Ölüdeniz. The famous Blue Lagoon, a UNESCO-protected beach at Ölüdeniz, and the sheltered Fethiye Bay with its rock tombs. One of Turkey's most scenic overnight stops.
Lycian ruins & history. Kayaköy ghost village, Xanthos, Patara — Lycian civilisation is everywhere along the coast. Many sites reachable by dinghy or a short walk.
Marmaris & Datça. Marmaris for provisions and nightlife; Datça for one of Turkey's least-crowded peninsulas — remote bays only accessible by sea.
