Sailing Workation in Thailand's Andaman Sea

Thailand's Andaman Sea is where the visuals go off the charts — limestone karsts, hidden lagoons, water that doesn't look real. Connectivity runs on 4G with Starlink as backup. The timezone works well for teams with European stakeholders: mornings free for deep work, afternoon calls land in EU business hours. A workation that's genuinely hard to describe to people who haven't done it.
Winter destination

Why Thailand is our off-season sailing destination

Thailand is our winter destination, sailing the Andaman Sea from November to March when the Mediterranean is off-season. Routes leave from Phuket and cover Phi Phi, Krabi, James Bond Island, and the limestone hongs of Phang Nga Bay.

Most nationalities get a 30 to 60 day visa-free stamp on arrival at Phuket International Airport (HKT), so entry is simple for both short vacations and longer workation stays. The time zone is UTC+7 — convenient for Asia-based teams and for European remote workers who want mornings free for diving and afternoons for work calls back to Europe.

Mobile coverage is strong near the islands, and we run Starlink onboard for open-sea crossings. Water temperatures stay 28–32 °C year-round and the northeast monsoon keeps sailing conditions calm and dry through the whole high season.

Expect tropical cuisine, coral-reef snorkelling, and full-day beach stops between work sessions. This is our most relaxed itinerary — more time at anchor, fewer long passages, and the warmest water of any destination we sail.

Why Thailand

Thailand sailing highlights

Andaman Sea sailing is unlike anything in the Mediterranean — tropical warmth, limestone karst islands, and a different kind of paradise.
Phuket — the Andaman hub. Thailand's main charter hub — largest island, world-class provisioning, and an international airport connecting to most European cities via Dubai or Doha.
Phi Phi Islands. Phi Phi Don and the uninhabited Phi Phi Leh — filming location of The Beach. Turquoise water, dramatic cliffs, and snorkelling among sea turtles.
James Bond Island. Ko Tapu — the limestone pinnacle rising 20 m from Phang Nga Bay, famous from The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). Arriving by yacht at dawn is a privilege.
Krabi & Railay Beach. Railay Beach is accessible only by boat — white sand backed by 300 m limestone cliffs with rock climbing routes and a Hindu shrine inside the cliff.
Similan Islands. Thailand's premier diving destination — 11 granite islands with visibility up to 30 m, manta rays, whale sharks, and coral gardens. A day-sail from Phuket.
